During his lifetime, he worked as an apprentice embalmer for the Western Union Telegraph Co. He grew up in West Virginia, where he met and married Norma Greene and later he and his family moved to New York before coming to New Mexico. Thomas was born in Independence, Virginia, the eldest of four children born to Oscar and Estella Gentry. Gentry Sr., 78, left to be present with The Lord on Good Friday, April 2, 1999. She belonged to First Presbyterian Church and the PEO, both at newton, Job's daughters, Albuquerque, and Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, where she had been president and served as chapter adviser for 16 years. She graduated from High School in Albuquerque, NM, in 1939 and from the University of New Mexico in 1943 with a degree in elementary education. She was born November 6, 1921, in El Paso, Texas, the daughter of Francis and Velma Rodgers Scott. Mary Jo Darrow, 71, died Apat Newton Medical Center.
